Types of Symbiosis in Nature with Examples

For my research presentation and paper I am going to explore the three different types of symbiosis in nature and give examples of them. The three different types of symbiosis include: parasitism, commensalism, and mutualism. There is also mention of two other types, competition and neutralism but for my research I will not include these. Symbiosis, when breaking down the word literally means “with living” therefore I shall explain each example in terms of  how they live together and the results that come about because of these relationships.

First I will explain what each type of symbiosis is. In parasitic symbiotic relationships most of the time, one of the organisms benefit from the relationship and the other is negatively affected. However in this relationship the parasites best course of action is to keep its host alive so that it can continue to live also. In commensalism symbiotic relationships, one organism may benefit from the relationship while the other remains unaffected. And the third type of symbiotic relationship is called mutualism and in this relationship both of the organisms may benefit from the relationship.

Goal: To find examples of each types of these relationships of symbiosis and explore what the relationships consist of. Symbiotic relationships are prevalent and important in nature, by researching them I hope to have a better understanding of the importance of them in our ever evolving world.
